We had our beautiful baby boy on Saturday 11/21 at 5:23 PM. We named him Remzley Allen (Remz or Remzy for short). We arrived at the hospital on Saturday 11/21/2009 at 7 AM hoping for a delivery around noon :) -- We had high hopes and he didn't decide to make it until 5:23 PM. We knew both our nurse and the assistant that were helping out in the delivery (which was very nice) and they were both off of work at 6 PM; needless today when 4:30 hit and still no baby they decided that they were going up the Petosin and get him here before they both had to leave. He made it by 40 minutes! After he arrived and we realized that he was a "BIG" baby at 8 lbs and 4 oz and 19 inches long, he started breathing really raspy and sounded like he had a lot of stuff down in his lungs. The nurse took him and stuck the tube down his throat to suck it all out; which helped a little bit, but was not enough, so they ended up taking him down to the nursery to hook him up to the C-Pap machine to get oxygen down into his lungs to keep them from trying to close up. They tested him for respiratory infections and thought maybe he had a small hole in his lung which was causing all of the nasty breathing -- when he was hooked onto the C-PAP machine it helped him a lot and he did not have any more raspy breathing; after an hour of being on it they took him off and the raspy breathing started back up. So they decided to call the Pediatrician to find out what he thought they should do; they determined to do some X-rays on him to see if they could see anything on the x-ray that would be causing it... And the results came back that he was fine and that they could not find anything wrong with his lungs. When he came out his heart was good and healthy (which we were undetermined of during the pregnancy) so everything was good with him and they brought him back into the room at about 8 PM; so that i could finally hold him and try to feed him. We kept him with us the whole time and did not ever send him to the nursery unless they needed him for more testing. He is such a miracle and we LOVE him to death. On Sunday morning 11/22 when my Dr came in to check on me, he said that if the baby is doing well, and the pediatrician would release him, that i could go home on Sunday night. So when the pediatrician came in on Sunday evening, he said that everything was good, and the baby looked healthy and that he would let the nurse know that we could go home. So they came and got him at about 5:00 PM on Sunday and did all of his tests that they have to do on then at 24 hours old.. and he passed all of them; but was at moderate risk for bilirubin (jaundice) so we had to go back to the hospital on Monday morning to have them draw his blood again, and the pediatrician called back and said that it went up a little bit more, and they wanted us to take his blood again on Tuesday, which we took him over again, and they just called again and said that the level went up higher.... so they are going to be delivering us a photo-therapy wrap to help him out and see if we can get it to clear up. So i guess we will see how that goes, if it doesn't clear up with the wrap they will put him back in the hospital so that he can be under the lights all day long to see if they can get it to clear up. Finally about 7:30 PM on Sunday the nurse came in and said that we were ready to go so we got everything loaded up and headed home to see our BIG SISTER who was anxiously awaiting for us to get home. (in the snow.. of course it snowed the day we went home.. lol -- that is just our luck) Kaedynn is so excited that he is finally here and LOVES to hold him. She is a little disappointed that i am breastfeeding him and that she can not feed him a bottle.. But with the jaundice i am going to have to start "supplement" feeding him with formula at least 1 oz every time that he eats.. so we will see how it goes.
