Baby Remzley

Well, things with our baby are finally seeming like they are getting a little bit better at our house. I can honestly say if Remzley would have been our first.. i am sure he would have been our last :) He is a very fussy baby who cries ALL the time it seems like.

It started off with him having belly aches all the time.. after we would feed him, his belly would just rumble and rumble and he would scream and scream which would be followed by alot of farting and occasionally a poopie diaper. I decided to go to the health food store to see what they suggested (if anything) to give to him. I was introduced to Gripe Water.. which helped quite a bit. As soon as he would get "grumpy" i would give him some of that and within 5 minutes he would stop crying. It was a miracle.. However apparently the Gripe Water constipated him, which lead to him screaming and in PAIN because he could no longer poop. So after 7 days and no poopies, i gave him a suppository and he pooped about 20 minutes later (and BOY did it stink) I was hoping this would be the end of the constipation.. however he went another 5 days with no pooping and on the 6th day i decided to call the Dr to find out what to do. They recommended me sticking a vasolined Q-tip in his tooshie to get it to come out, since he was in some major pain. They also told me to feed him some prune juice 2 times a day to help regulate his digestive system. Remzley HATES the prune juice... I finally decided to dilute it a little bit by adding some water to it, and also heating it up for him. He seems to drink it a little better this way; but he still spits it up all over everything (and of course it stains everything) Since we added the prune juice to his diet, he has been able to poop at least every other day (sometimes a few times in 1 day.)

I also started taking him to the Chiropractor to see if maybe something was kinked or "off" in his body that could have been causing him to be acting the way that he was. I was also advised to eliminate all of the diary products out of my diet.. while i am a HUGE milk drinker and cheese eater... i decided i would STOP drinking my milk every day and try to eat as little cheese as possible. So i am sure this has been helping him as well. The Chiropractor also seems to be helping him. Since i have done alot of stuff all at once, i am not really sure what helped him or made him "better" but all of this stuff combined seems to really be helping him. He now sleeps, eats, is not spitting up, does not have a "rumbly" tummy after eating.

He has also been doing really good at nights. I try to feed him about 9:30-10 PM and he will usually sleep until 2-3 AM and then eats and goes right back to bed until about 6 AM. I defiantly am not complaining about this. I can handle him getting up 1-2 times a night. That is alot better then the 5-6 in the beginning with his tummy hurting him all the time.

I tell Riley regularly that it is a GOOD thing that i REALLY wanted to have another baby... otherwise i think i would have been pretty depressed. All of these things that have happened in his first 2 months of life.. NEVER happened with Kaedynn. She was seriously a PERFECT baby. I guess you can not have 2 of those in life :). However things do seem to be looking up and soon we will hopefully have a happy baby all the time.

Kaedynn is also starting to be better with him around. She likes to help me fold his laundry, change diapers (watch me of course) feed him, bath him, etc. Ever since our "heart-to-heart" talk about why i have to spend so much time with the baby, i think she has realized that things have changed.. and she is accepting them. She does still have her occasional fits and freak outs.. but she is 50% better then where we started.

I take him to the Dr on Friday for his 2 month check up appointment. I am very excited to see how much he has grown. I am thinking he is over 11 lbs now. He seems to be very heavy now... especially in his car seat.

Sorry this is just a "ranting" post.. but i like to document it, so i can look back and see how much progress we make over the next little while with him.

Nat, Good Luck! I had no idea how hard it is to raise a baby, & I have one of those perfect baby's. I don't know if I want to go for round two, just for that reason. The pic's of your kiddo's are adorable.
