Our 20 Week Dr's Appointment!

So we had our 20 week Dr's appointment yesterday morning to find out what our baby is. We found out that it is a BOY!!! Technology these days is so incredible, last time we did this (4-5 years ago) with Kaedynn, it was pretty hard to tell what was what.. and what the nurse was talking about. But this time, it was awesome, even Kaedynn could tell what the nurse was looking at, and see the "pictures" of the baby. The Dr's office has a big huge flat screen TV that you get to watch it on, and it looked like a real life size baby on there. I was blown away.

Also, another piece of good news, they changed my due date back to the original date of 11/28/2009; which is my mother-in-law Jackie's birthday. The Dr still says that he can/will take me 1 week early if that is what i would like to do (and of course i do) which puts us the week of Thanksgiving. It might just be a Turkey baby!

Now that the good news is out... There was a little bit of bad news as well.
The Ultrasound technician found a few things on the baby that are "abnormal".
1) It has a small black thing on it's brain (i cant remember what the Dr called it, something technical of course) but he showed me the picture, so i could see it. But the Dr said that he has seen them many times before, and they are quite common; but they have always gone away before the baby is actually born. And that it was nothing to be concerned about :) RIGHT! Who in their right mind would not be "concerned" about it. Especially a hormonal pregnant lady.
2) The baby also has a "flap" of something in it's heart (pea sized or smaller) that is showing on the ultrasound. The Dr said once again, that it is nothing to be concerned about; until I told him that my husband's family has a history of BAD HEARTS! (I am sure he could tell he was freaking me out by this point) He said, again, he is 99% sure that it will go away before the baby is born. He said if this were to stay there, when the baby is born, that we will just have to have a monitor on the baby after it is born, to monitor the heart.

But just to be safe he said that we will do another ultrasound in my 3rd Trimester before the baby is born, to ensure that both of these things are either gone, or diminished in size from where they are today.

SO I am trying to think positive, and not let any of this "Bad news" get to me. I will love the baby the same rather it has problems, or rather it comes out 100% healthy. It just sucks thinking about it all this time, until the next ultrasound. I am grateful that we have the technology that we have these days to detect these things, so that we know what we are working with when the baby actually arrives.

After our visit to the Dr's office, Kaedynn and I went shopping at Target and Old Navy to see if we could find any cute (warm) boy clothes for our new baby boy. We found a bunch of cute things, and of course we had to get Kaedynn some new clothes too :). We also got under our house and started digging out all of our old baby stuff to check it out, and see what we need to get for our new baby boy. Well, i ended up pushing something into the light bulb, and it shattered everywhere.. so that ended that journey. I told Riley that he was going to have to crawl in there to fix it for me :) Now i just need to brainstorm on something to do for a boy's room, so we can get it all painted and decorated for his arrival.
